- Is Readest free?
- Yes. Readest is open source and free software under AGPL-3.0. The Free Plan gives you sync across your devices, 500 MB of cloud storage, 10,000 characters of AI translation a day, AI read aloud, and control over fonts, layout and theme.
- What do Plus and Pro add?
- Plus takes cloud storage to 5 GB and translation to 100,000 characters a day through DeepL Pro. It also lifts the cap on AI read aloud hours and includes every Full Customization feature, and your support requests jump the queue. Pro raises the same two limits to 20 GB and 500,000 characters, and adds early access to new features and advanced AI tools.
- What is the Lifetime plan?
- One-time purchases instead of a subscription, kept on your account for good. Lifetime comes as two separate packs, so you buy only the one you need. Storage packs add cloud storage and stack, so each one adds more space. The Full Customization pack unlocks a set of premium features, listed in the next answer. Each pack covers only its own part: storage packs add space, and the premium features come with Full Customization.
- What does Full Customization unlock?
- Full Customization is a one-time purchase that permanently unlocks five features: syncing your library, reading progress and highlights through your own cloud storage (WebDAV, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive or an S3-compatible bucket); a personal Send to Readest email address that adds the books you email to it to your library; downloading Read Aloud audio chapter by chapter to listen offline; downloading books from your Audiobookshelf server for offline use; and pairing trusted devices so Nearby BookDrop transfers between them arrive without a prompt. Themes, fonts, layout and the other reading settings are free for everyone and don’t need it. Plus and Pro include all five features.
- Does my plan work on every platform?
- Yes. Your benefits are tied to your Readest account rather than to the device you bought them on. Sign in on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android or the web reader and everything you paid for is there.
- What happens if I cancel?
- Your plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for, then the account goes back to Free. Downgrading won’t delete your books. Books on your devices stay put, and books already in Readest Cloud remain available to download even if you’re over the free 500 MB storage limit. What pauses is uploading new books above that limit, and syncing through a third-party cloud, which needs Plus, Pro or Full Customization.
- I subscribed in the App Store or on Google Play. Can I manage it here?
- No. Apple and Google bill those subscriptions themselves, so change or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you subscribed on this site instead, sign in and manage it from your plan on this page.
